For example, here are some thoughts on academic integrity from Allison... academic integrityEvery course you will take will have a section on "Academic Integrity" in the syllabus. Even though this is a serious topic with serious consequences, most of us tend to skip over this information as we've seen it so often (TLDR: don't cheat). BUT. It is extremely important to understand what actions are NOT OK, why they aren't, and what consequences can occur should you be in violation. Sometimes, students aren't even aware of what isn't acceptable behaviour, and even if this is through no fault of their own (perhaps this behaviour is acceptable at their previous educational institutions), they will still be held accountable.
Remember: since you have been provided information on academic integrity, ignorance is no excuse. This means that Dalhousie will not accept "I didn't know" as a defence for academic violations, even if it's true. It is your responsibility to read and understand Dalhousie's academic policies. Therefore, please take some time to read the information provided on the following websites. If you have any questions or comments, let us know below, or feel free to contact Allison.
